Tell us about ECP, how it started and what helped drive your success

ECP Incorporated, and its affiliate, Daubert Industries, started in 1935 serving multiple industries including the US military and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers). Since 1969, ECP Incorporated, under its brand names, Auto Armor, The Protector and Platinum Protection, has served many of the finest automobile dealers in the nation. Today, ECP has distributors and agents throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada, and South Africa and continues to expand world-wide. The ECP story in recent years has been one of expansion, in terms of new markets, new products and increased acceptance through professional training on existing products and services.

ECP is driven by our desire to be an industry leader and not a follower. ECP was the first to provide fully insured, full repair warranties. We were among the first to provide Rips, Tears, Punctures and Burns Protection and to provide coverage for ALL VEHICLES. We realize the value of training and we were the first to create a dedicated national training center to provide agents and dealers with extensive sales support and training techniques.

Tell us about the products that you offer and how they work.

ECP offers a diversified line of products and programs which include: Appearance Protection/Protective Coatings, Aftermarket Finance Products, Customer Retention Maintenance and Appreciation Programs for new, pre-driven and leased vehicles as well as a complete line of Detailing, Prep, Service, Facility Chemicals and Supplies. ECP’s trusted brands, have protected over 45 million vehicles, since 1969.. Over 14,000 dealers use ECP products, programs and services.

Unlike traditional waxes, polishes and paint sealants, ECP’s Nano Technology System incorporates a miniaturization of molecular particles which provides greater surface tension, superior filling of pores, smoother surfaces and increased gloss and durability. These patented and trademarked technologies allow us to provide the most superior warranty coverages ever offered.

How does your product offering differ from other appearance protection providers?

As an actual manufacturer, we have introduced ECP Plus™ THE NEXT GENERATION IN PROTECTION, WHERE CONCEPTS BECOME REALITY™. ECP’s product innovations provide coverages never before offered. ECP Plus™ fights back against accelerated appearance deterioration. Our unique environmentally friendly nano particle formulas enable our dealers to protect the vehicle in a fraction of the time it takes traditional product and application methods. Unlike many other providers, ECP has the products, techniques and training to correct most damage such as exterior and interior repairs, headlight restoration, and molding/trim and wheel appearance. ECP is one of the nation’s largest detailing, prep and facility chemical manufacturers.

Our products and programs are available through a growing network of distributors and agents, supported by multiple distribution locations, ECP’s National Training Center and in-dealer field support. All of our Appearance Protection products are sold exclusively at the finest New Vehicle, RV, Motorcycle, Marine and Powersport dealers. We have branded programs and customized private label turn-key programs. We are flexible, creative and cutting-edge in our newest family of programs and invite all to explore our capabilities.

Looking back over the past five years, how has the appearance protection industry changed and how do you see it changing in the future?

In the past 5 years, Appearance Protection has moved from the sales floor and Aftermarket offices, into the F&I office. These products are enjoying a heightened awareness being presented by F&I professionals and aided by menu presentations at the dealerships. ECP, it’s agents and their dealers, have had some of the best months and years in history due to enhanced training (at the dealerships, agencies and our National Training Center), accountability, income development, higher performance standards and acceptance rates in F&I that continue to advance upward.

Given that there are so many offerings in F&I, time constraints and simplicity demanded by the consumers has led to the evolution of bundled programs. Our Ultimate, ECP Plus and Entire Care programs are providing dealers with value-added coverages for their customers, while generating lucrative profits without chargebacks.

What technology or services do you believe will drive your future success

There are multiple services and technology that are required for the future.

  1. Ease of sale --- through bundled programs such as ECP Plus™ and Entire Care Protection supported by professional training and field support.
  2. Ease of product application - Finance Departments want to deliver vehicles immediately, they do not want to waste time setting appointments to have customers return for the application process. ECP’s nano particle formulas protect most vehicles in a fraction of the time of out-dated traditional application and product methods.
  3. Professional Claim Handling - Agents and their Dealers have a tremendous investment in the retention of their customers. ECP prides itself on our Better Business Bureau A+ Award Winning claims Department, accredited since 1993. Customers can file a claim online or speak to a live claims representative.
  4. E-training will be essential for the future along with APPs for all mobile devices, webinars, training modules and our soon-to-be-released new website. ECP is committed to expanding its E-training capabilities.
