Sales of Ford’s F-Series trucks alone jumped about 43%.

Ford’s May sales rose about 11% year-over-year, buoyed by a hefty surge in truck sales.

The Dearborn, Mich.-based brand moved more than 170,000 units in the U.S. during the month. Its truck sales jumped about 32%, while car sales rose 10% and sports-utility vehicle sales fell 10%.

Sales of Ford’s F-Series trucks alone jumped about 43%.

Electric-vehicle sales fell 13%, while hybrids increased about 21%, and internal-combustion-engine models rose 11%.

Ford’s sales are up about 9% year-to-date.

Sales jumped across the auto industry in May. Cox Automotive forecast a 20% increase due to inventories hitting a two-year high as the month started and pent-up consumer demand following suit.
