Edmunds rewards affordability, along with ‘efficiency’ in annual awards.

Affordability was a major factor in the Civic Hybrid winning two of the seven awards.

A half-dozen vehicle models have been named Edmunds’ 2025 Best of the Best, all but one of them hybrids or purely electric vehicles.
The annual recognitions, in their sixth year, reward the “value and efficiency” of electrifieds, Edmunds said.
The California-based provider of automotive inventory and information, such as car reviews, based its choices on its own vehicle testing.
Winning awards are the:
Honda Civic Hybrid as both top-rated car and “best of the best” vehicles
Tesla Model 3 as top-rated electric car
Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid as top-rated SUV
Kia EV9 as top-rated electric SUV
Ford Ranger as top-rated truck
Rivian R1T as top-rated electric truck
Edmunds pointed out that most of its choices are more affordable models, one of the considerations in the judging.
"The Edmunds Top Rated Awards honor the best vehicles on sale today," said Edmunds Editor-in-Chief Alistair Weaver in a press release on the award winners.
"In 2025, car shoppers are continuing to battle high purchase costs, and our winners combine all-round excellence with a fine value."
Affordability was a major factor in the Civic Hybrid winning two of the seven awards.
“As hybrids emerge as a confident middle ground for car shoppers seeking greener, more efficient transport, the Civic's punchy-yet-efficient hybrid delivers all-round excellence from just $30K," Weaver said.
