China Passenger Car Sales Up
Trade group reports increases in sales for September and first nine months of the year.

China's passenger vehicle sales increased by 4.7% in September compared to the previous year, Reuters reported.
It said the China Passenger Car Association reported vehicle sales hit 2.04 million units last month, the highest volume of any month this year so far. According to the CPCA, sales for the first nine months of the year reached 15.41 million units, marking a 2.1% increase from the previous year.
What the group calls new-energy vehicle sales rose 22% year-over-year and made up about 37% of the volume.
Reuters noted that preholiday shopping generally strengthens September sales.
