In-car entertainment is getting a social upgrade with Sing Drive, a new in-vehicle karaoke and sing-along platform from Samsung Electronics automotive technology subsidiary Harman.
Sing Drive uses artificial intelligence, proprietary digital signal processing and a driver-aware design intended to provide a fun yet safe experience, the company said. Audio features include echo cancellation and noise suppression for a “clear and balanced” sound.
The platform’s low-latency AI can separate vocals from any song in real time, Harman said, freeing up users from dependence on prelicensed karaoke catalogs. Passengers can use integrated in-cabin microphones, and the company said that hand-held microphones will one day be available.
To help minimize distractions, the platform has built-in safety features that support hands-free interaction and adaptable display modes.
According to Harman, automakers can tailor Sing Drive to fit their needs, “from lightweight sing-along functionality to a full-featured karaoke with synchronized lyrics and AI capabilities.”
Leonard Gregg, Harman sound systems product manager, said, “Sing Drive represents a new step forward in how music is enjoyed inside the vehicle. More than a feature, Sing Drive acts as a lifestyle differentiator, turning everyday drives into moments of expression, interaction and enjoyment.
