Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Ford Issue New Recalls

WASHINGTON — Mitsubishi, Suzuki Motor Corp. and Ford Motor Co. have issued new recalls, calling back about 90,000 vehicles in total, reported The Detroit News.

Suzuki said it is recalling nearly 70,000 2007-2010 SX4 hatchback and sedans over concerns that three screws that secure the outside rearview mirrors to the mirror case can come loose because of vehicle vibration. Suzuki will replace the screws in the vehicles and will start notifying owners next month.

Most of the vehicles — 42,513 — are from the 2008 model year. Just one vehicle being recalled is a 2007 model.

Mitsubishi said it is recalling nearly 20,000 2006-2008 Endeavor vehicles over reports that some vehicles equipped with manual air conditioning could falter and impact the vehicle's defroster.

The company said some vehicles' heater controller may send wrong signals and could cause the heater door to stick. It could harm defroster performance, which could impact visibility.

No injuries or accidents have been reported. Mitsubishi will reprogram the software and replace the controller to correct the problem. It will also replace the mode door shaft if damaged.

The company will start notifying customers on Nov. 30.

Ford said today it is recalling 71 2011 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles to update control modules to enable the liftgate locking feature.

Ford said some vehicles inadvertently left Oakville Assembly Complex with control module settings that disable the locking function for the liftgate.

Ford said it got a report from a dealer on Sept. 2 that the liftgate locking mechanism wasn't working. Three more reports in late September and early October prompted Ford to investigate.

Ford will notify owners next week to have the control modules updated.
